Are you considering a smile makeover? Porcelain veneers might be just the solution you’re looking for! At Highland Dental, we’ve helped countless patients achieve the smile of their dreams with this popular cosmetic dentistry option. Let’s walk through what you can expect from your initial consultation to the final reveal of your stunning new smile.

The Consultation: Your First Step to a Dazzling Smile

Your journey begins with a consultation with Dr. Phil Storrud. During this visit, we’ll discuss your smile goals and evaluate whether veneers are the best option for you. Dr. Storrud will examine your teeth, take X-rays, and possibly make impressions of your teeth. This is also the perfect time to ask any questions you may have about the procedure.

Planning Your Perfect Smile

Once we’ve determined that porcelain veneers are right for you, we’ll create a customized treatment plan. This may involve:

• Selecting the shade of your veneers
• Determining how many veneers you’ll need
• Discussing the shape and size of your new teeth

We may even use digital imaging to show you a preview of your new smile!

Preparing Your Teeth

The next step involves preparing your teeth for the veneers. This typically requires removing a small amount of enamel from the tooth surface — usually less than a millimeter. We’ll then take another impression of your prepared teeth, which will be sent to a dental laboratory where your custom veneers will be crafted.

The Waiting Game

It usually takes about two to four weeks for your porcelain veneers to be created. During this time, we may fit you with temporary veneers to protect your prepared teeth and give you a glimpse of your new smile.

The Big Day: Placing Your Veneers

When your veneers are ready, you’ll return to our office for the placement procedure. Dr. Storrud will carefully check the fit, shape, and color of each veneer to ensure they’re perfect for you. Once you’re both satisfied, the veneers will be permanently bonded to your teeth using a special dental cement and light beam.

Adjusting to Your New Smile

It may take a few days to get used to the feel of your new veneers. You might notice a slight difference in the size and shape of your teeth, but this feeling typically subsides within a week. We’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to check on your veneers and make any necessary adjustments.

Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers

With proper care, your new veneers can last for many years. Brush and floss regularly, avoid biting on hard objects, and visit us for regular check-ups. Remember, while veneers are stain-resistant, it’s still a good idea to limit staining foods and beverages to keep your smile bright.
